Our Story
Having grown up on farms, we (Justin and Denise) quickly learned that we couldn’t handle town life and began searching for our little slice of heaven in the country. Little did we know that that search would last seven years.
But in God’s perfect timing, we eventually found 5.5 acres that we’ve called home since 2018. We knew that we wanted to raise our kids in the country and teach them where their food came from along with the responsibility that comes from raising animals.
Having vowed to never milk cows again, we started with the “gateway” animal in 2020 – chickens. In 2021, we added pigs to our little farm. And in 2022 came the goats!
We started with a small ADGA registered herd of two does and two bucks. As goat math goes, that turned into milking four does in 2024, and if all goes according to plan, we’ll be milking six in 2025 and will begin selling our first does to make great milkers in other people’s herds.

Our Farming Practices
We care about what we put in our own bodies, so why wouldn’t we also care what our goats put into theirs? While we can’t claim to be an organic farm because the cost to get certified is way too high, we have never sprayed our pasture with pesticides, and we only purchase unsprayed or organic hay to supplement our pasture. Additionally, we purchase only organic grain for our milking does that we mix ourselves (oats, barley, peas) so that we can also avoid fillers or other nasty ingredients. The icing on the cake is the mineral buffet that our goats have access to 24/7. This allows them to supplement only with the vitamins and minerals they need versus overdosing on some they don’t just to get the ones they do.
“Home base” for our goats is a dry lot attached to our barn. They hang out there when it’s rainy and in the off season when our pasture is dormant and the weather gets COLD! Once things green up in the spring, they are eager to get out to pasture. We rotate them to a new paddock every 3 days in order to cut down on parasite issues. If they need some extra parasite support, especially during times of stress like kidding or extreme temperature swings (hello Wisconsin swings of -10 to +50F in a matter of days), we use Land of Havilah’s herbal parasite powder or occasionally essential oils.
We love giving our animals the tools they need to be healthy rather than sick goats propped up by medications. We have never used a single antibiotic or chemical dewormer or other medication on our farm. Of course we’re not opposed to using them if all other options fail. We just have not had a need to thus far.
We breed for resilient animals that are high producers and good mamas to their babies. We dam raise our bucklings until 8 weeks (or a little more), and the doelings stay with their mom and are weaned when she decides it’s time. We feel that this goes a long way in creating a healthier herd – which means healthier milk for us!
